...have you made sure you're using the SAN transport method when backing up your VMs, and that you're accessing them via the Vitual Center server in your selection list?

If you are using the SAN transport method, your backup server need access to the SAN (therefore connected to the fibre channel network).

Be carefull granting access to the vmware LUNs. If you do this wrong, you can destroy your Virtual Machines. Make sure to run automount disable and automount scrub first !

I have check SAN transport method in backup job, and I have select my Virtual Center in my selection list

OK cool...next couple of questions: what are you backing up too? Disk or tape? If tape, what type of drives do you have in (LTO2/LTO3/LTO4 etc)?

Is this a new problem, or has it always existed?

Is BE fully patched, and have you pushed the RAWS agent out to the VMs?

Hi,

yes I have access to the SUN and yes I have disabled automount.

Hi ZeRoC00l,

the first link not resolved, I restarted the VMWare Tools Service on the guest machine.

I have any virtual machine 'windows 2003 server' without Agent for Windows System and I have the error:

V-79-57344-33899 - Si è verificato un errore durante la connessione a Backup Exec for Windows Server...

for backup the virtual machine I not need the Agent for Windows System if I not use GRT...

I have ESX v.4.0.0

I not use  Backup Exec GRT (Granular Restore Technology)
My clint host is a windows 2003 server

Why I have this error ?

How are you creating a backup of this server?

Do you select the VMDK files via the Vmware Agent? Or do you select the files via browsing over het network?

(maybe you can post a screenshot of your selections)

Hi CraigV,

I have NAS for backup (iSCSI).

This is a new problem (this is a new job for backup new virtual machine).

BE is fully patched and I not have RAWS agent installed on the VMs because I not use GRT.

in attach the screenshot of my selections.

the virtual machine is a win2003 server with VmWare Tools v. 4.0.0 Build 164009.

I select the VMDK files via Vmware Agent (select the Vcenter 'saturn.vmware.... ')

I have in the service of windows system

VMware Snapshot Provider

Volume Shadow Copy

in manual mode and both start during the backup.

I have disable VMware Snapshot Provider o VSS but not work.

you will have to remove the vmware vss provider, and install the symantec vss provider.

The Symantec VSS provider is located on the BE2010 installation DVD:

root - \BE\WinNT\Install\BEVSSProvider

Can you verify that during the backup, that the traffic is truly going over the SAN, and not LAN NIC's.

How do I control this?

I'm sorry but I have little experience on

Can you post a job log?
Normally you can see transport method: NBD (network) or SAN (FC/iSCSI network).

BEVSSProvider is installed without the agent?

Yes, this will not install the BE agent.

The Backup Exec VSS provider makes sure that a quiesced snapshot can be made of the VM.

in backup information the method is SAN

Etichetta supporto: IMG000012

ok thanks,

I install the BEVSSProvider later

[...]

The problem is the following:

Any virtual machine backup have a speed of 3.000 MB/min

Any virtual machine backup have a slow speed 300 MB/min

[...]

I noticed that the backup vm-store10 is very slow (maximum 300MB/min) may depend on the speed of the disks on the storage?

I have to investigate in this direction (the infrastructure is remote) :(
