BEWS 10d and Netware 6.5 + AOFO

I have a Windows XP SP2 machine with BEWS 10d with the last hot fixes.
I have 4 Netwares 6.5 SP1, with remote agent and AOFO installed.
I use bestart to start the ranw and AOFO, everithings OK, all modules starts ok.
When I try to backup data in ANY Netware, the same exception appear: AOFO: Backup Exec was unable to load the required Open File Option APIs. The backup will continue without using the open file option.

I try restaring the 4 servers, reinstalling, etc, etc, etc...
Any clever idea?

Thanks!

Are you using the latest remote agent (http://support.veritas.com/docs/282302)? Check sys:\bkupexec\version.doc for details.

Try this:

1. BESTOP
2. BESTART
3. Now check the Logger screen - what errors do you see? If possible, please post a copy of LOGGER.TXT (http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?10065784.htm)

You should still check the logger screen after a BESTART to see if there are any errors.

OK, there's obviously a problem here:

OFM: ERROR - Open File Manager not loaded due to errors on initialize!
Module OFMCDM.CDM unloaded

I think you need to re-install the open file manager:

1. BESTOP
2. Rename sys:\system\ofm to ofm.bak
3. Re-install OFM
4. BESTART

Then check the logger screen to see if you still have the same error.

Chiris this is not the problem.
I have the problem in 4 servers, and I reinstaled 3 times at less.
I need to know how to see the real problem in the Netwares... why the modules starts and then the error apear... I think is a Netware problem not an AOFO problem...

OK, but you are running an old version of the open file manager. I would recommend that you update the remote agent which includes the latest version of OFM:

Are you completely sure??? I use the one who comes in the Symantec 10d package!!!

Well, the version of OFM you have is older than the one included in the latest remote agent for NetWare. If you still have problems after that, you will probably need to open up a case with Symantec so they can do some more in-depth troubleshooting.

Confirmed. The last version of AOFO is the one installed. The last version is 9.4.401m.
Sobody know a way to see what is the problem loading the bloody AOFO????

What version of the remote agent are you running? Check in sys:\bkupexec\version.doc for details.

I'm sure this agent includes OFM 95.01 which is newer than what you have.

Tired of non-helpful tech support? I have yet to gain any helpful/useful information from the Symantec/Veritas techs. They want to move as many topics to the "answered" section as possible. The "two-day, automatically assumed answered" policy is absurd, in my opinion.

For these reasons, I have started a new backup exec group at google.

If you're interested, please check it out, and spread the word if you like it.

Owen,

Whilst all feedback is welcome, there are a lot of people (not all posters are Symantec/Veritas employees) taking time out to post helpful advice/hints/tips etc.

I think it's a bit unfair to label these forums as 'non-helpful' just because your experiences have not given you the answers you were looking for.

It's important to remember that these are free forums. If you have a critical issue, then opening a case with Symantec/Veritas will always be the quickest way to find a resolution. Folks in these forums are always willing to help but we can only go so far....

i apologize if i was unclear. the forums are great, but more often than not, only when the Sym/Ver techs are not present. I have been scanning through many threads and the common pattern is that the techs post links to non-relevant articles time and again. then they'll move the thread to "answered" (which i have yet to look at, is it easy to find? not sure) or else just not respond any more. (take a look at all the "anyone out there???" comments)

I would much prefer the forums to be "admin-free".

Well, that hasn't been my experience but point taken..

Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks everyone for the help, but Im sure the problem is not the version of the agent. Ive been work for 5 years with the Veritas products and I have a lot of experience.
I will tell the customer to install the SP5 of Netware, and see what happen....
