Back-UP C: on one server to a folder on another server??

Need to perform back up of C:drive on one server, and would like to have it stored on our storage server. How can we go about doing this? Both servers have the client software installed, any help is appreciated! Thank you.

Create a backup to disk folder on the second server, and point the job to it.

Can you (or anyone else) elaborate on that please?

Use the device wizard to create a Backup-to-Disk folder. Create it on the second server. Change/create your jobs to point to the B2D folder rather than to the tape drive

What needs to be installed on the server that i want to have the backups stored to?

Nothing.

The Service Account does need to have rights in the "storage" server, and you should define it via UNC (\\server\share) rather than as eg: F:\share, since when the backup jobs run, there is no environmetn to reference.

What's the service account? and how do we go about giving it rights to the server??

When you installed backupExec, it asked for a user-id. This then becomes the ID that the BackupExec services start as. From the Services Applet, check the properties of each BackupExec service.

Then, on the target server give that account rights to the share where you want to store the data.

We are using NetBackup 5.1. . . This was previously installed prior to my arrival. Would the procedures be the same as BackupExec services?

I would think so, but you probably need to take this to the Netbackup forums.
