Backup Exec 2010R2
We are backing up 4.1TB to Disk each weekend and then writing to tape - we have found this is faster than going directly to tape and by going to disk we know the backup isn't going to fail with tape or drive errors.
Backup to Disk - 18hours then to tape 16 hours - We then erade the Backup to Disk files for the next full backuip.
All is working well until we have to restore.
To Restore we have to first restore the Tapes to Disk which takes around 16 hours
What do we need to do so we can restore directly from tape?

If you are duplicating data from B2D to tape then you can directly restore from tape.
You should not backup B2D data just as normal files.
Go for a policy with a backup template for backing data to B2D, a duplicate template to duplicate data from B2D to tape. Don't select any schedule in duplicate template. A template rule as "when backup template finishes duplicate template will start" will be created automatically.

You do not need to erase the .bkf file before re-using it. All you need to do is to set your OPP such that the .bkf file is overwriteable BEFORE the next backup job starts.
