Back-end restore service crashes if the ampersand character is in the file name during a restore.

When I try to restore a file using BERetrieve the back-end restore service will crash if a special character exists in the file name - in this case the "&" character.  This is an allowed character in Windows file names so I can only conclude this is a bug with BackUp Exec.   Does anyone know if there is a hotfix available for this.  Telling my users not to use certain characters when they name their files is not an option.

Thanks..

Hi Dave,

What actually crashes?

The following service:

"Backup Exec Continuous Protection Web Restore Backend"

I have since discovered that it's more likely to happen when a check mark is placed next to a directory with a large number of files (~700).  It will provide an error on each file that has the "&" character present.  Eventually the service above will crash.  I can not get this to happen in a repeatable way.  I have also discovered that I don't have the latest updates.  I'm going to run LiveUpdate and try this again.

Dave,

I am not sure that the issue is the ampersand but I will test it here.

Please install the updates and run the restore again.

Let me know the results.
