Backing up System State on Windows 2000

System backups fail always on the System State section of the backup. I have BE 10. installed on a Windows 2000 SBS Server. I have tried backing up the System state only and I get the following errors.

Error category : Server ErrorsError : e000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred.

and in the detail section:

This is all on the same server. I have tried changing the network interface to Use any... but that doesn't help. It seems to fail when it hits Active Directory.

Other question. Is there a log that has the details of every file that is backed up by the job? Is there a way to see all of the files that are on a backup set without doing a restore ( a no-write option? )

I tried all of the posted solutions, so of which I had already tried, but none of them worked. I turned on debug and will include the debug log from the backup of the System State.

Hi,

Does the backup of local drives work?

Deselect the System state of the server and then perform the backup and verify whether the error occurs.

Perform the backup of the system state of that server using the NT backup utility. Stop the Backup Exec services and then perform the backup using the NT backup utility and verify the results.

All other backups work fine.

The NTBackup failed on the Certificate Server. This is the error that was in the Application Event log. Same error was there doing the Veritas backup.

certsrv.exe (1076) The database engine could not access the file called C:\WINNT\system32\CertLog\Falcon Certificates.pat.

Then...
certsrv.exe (1076) Unable to write a shadowed header for file C:\WINNT\system32\CertLog\Falcon Certificates.pat.

certsrv.exe (1076) The database engine has stopped the backup with error -1032.

Any ideas?
