Hi all,
I am trying to speed up my full backup to tape job and look for a better solution than what we currently have.
We have a large set of data (30TB) split over multiple servers on the local network. These backup to tape jobs are taking 2 weeks to finish, meaning the data is effectively 2 weeks out of date each time.
When backing up data saved locally to tape, the speeds are much faster. I have thought of doing a backup to the local disk first then duplicate to tape but then wouldn't I have the same problem of waiting 2 weeks for all the data to be copied to the local server first over the network?
Or should I try using DFS to mirror the data to the local Backup exec server first, then run a backup?

Please check whether AntiVirus is causing it. Please have a look at one of these old posts in Vox..

You may want to look at disabling NIC teaming if you have it on your media server.
Look at disabling TCP Chimny/Offload/RSS on the OS and NIC card levels.
This can speed up Network backups
