Under what circumstances does Veritas Backup EXEC label Backup Media as Cleaning Media? Please advise as this has been a constant problem for us. Thank you.

Might not fully apply, but see http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/190522.htm

I'll give it a shot and see what I can come up with.

Hello Ken. I don't know if this makes any difference, but it's not the Inventory function that labels these tapes as Cleaning Media. It's the backup operation itself. When a tape is loaded into the drive to be written to, Veritas ejects the tape and labels it as Cleaning Media. This happens regardless of whether or not the tapes (media) are brand new, or if they have been in use.

Hello,

Have you defined the one of the slot for cleaning media?

Have you invetoried it before using?

Install the latest drivers on the server.

VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 10d (10.1.5629) - Device Driver Installer (20051104) - Includes Tape Driver Release (20051015) and Robotic Library Release (48) (Intel Only)
