Backup Exec 10 rev5484. Cant catalog Backup Exec 8.6 tapes cant install SP1

Hello,

I have 3 Backup Exec 10 rev 5484 servers. I have tried to install SP1 for backup exec 10. it wont install, giving an error. When installing a hotfix, after clicking "Update," an "Install Wizard ERROR" occurs. The message shows "The wizard was interrupted before VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows Servers could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation at another time, please run setup again."
During patching, the database path is being changed back to the default so the latest clustered database being used is not getting updated.


I have tried to install SP1 and also this hotfix, but they wont install giving the same error!

I have had the similar several BE/update installs. 9 out of 10 times it will be a service/task or process of an application that is running in the background preventing installs and updates. Stop non critical tasks/process or service one at a time until it installs BE or the update.

Just remember to document which task/process or service is preventing the application from installing.

Hi,

If installing this service pack in cluster, ensure the following:
Before installing the hotfix to Backup Exec 10.0 media servers on each node of a Microsoft cluster, stop the Backup Exec services using "Cluster Administrator."

You may also directly upgrade to latest revision 5520, you can run the setup over the existing installation, no need to uninstall earlier revision. Refer this link:
