Backup Exec 10d error

 Hi all,
I got an error in Backup Exec. I am using Backup Exec 10d, Version 10.1
my backup failed and gave the error below.

When performing a backup of a server that resides on the other side of a firewall than the media server, Backup Exec may show the error 0xe00084f8 - The network connection to the Backup Exec Remote Agent has been lost. Check for network errors. 

any idea how do I check the connection because i use 10 different server where the agent is installed and how do i check that the agent is ok on the other end? Any help please
