Backup Exec 11D Encryption Verification

I have Backup Exec 11D running in one of my environments with the encryption feature enabled.  How can I verify that it's currently active and working? Is or are there any log or txt files I can look at each day to verify it's working.

1) The job log should show if encryption was active

2) Build a test server with the same technology tape drive attached, then try and inventory and catalog the tape in question using a Backup Exec installation on the test server

3) Send a test tape to a data recovery company and ask them if they can recover anything.

Where can I find the job log on the server? 

I'm the Enterprise NetBackup v7.1/Data Domain Admin so I know about NB, but the smaller remote office uses Backup Exec so I'm at a loss to the file structure of that application.

The job logs are stored in the Data directory under the BE installation directory.
