Backup Exec 11d Cluster query

Hi all, newbie here. Quick question for all. I have a 2 node cluster which is SAN attached.

What would happen if am backing up data on the active node (via the clustername) as a snapshot and the active node failed and the passive node became active? As a snapshot is taking place, would the vss writers stop on the failed node and the back continue on the new active node? Or would the backup fail completley?

Thanks all

Hi,

to avoid a cluster failure, you should backup the virtual node.

Hi

Thanks for the swift respone, if am backing up  a disk cluster resource via a virtual node and the node fails while a snapshot is taking place (vss writers are active), will the backup resume on the passive node? Will the vss writers just resume on the passvie node??

Thanks

...shouldn't be a problem. There is always a slight pause while the services are failing over to the other node. But like JoaoMatos suggested, you need to back up the virtual node. If you only back up the physical node, it won't back up anything as those disks aren;t selected on the passive node!
