I have a bit of a problem with 12.5 and sbs2008
My Problem is this , If you install the backup with or without live updating at the end , the backup works, untill you reboot the server
I have tried reinstalling with Service pack and without. I have tried uninstalling removing the folders,
I have even gone through the registry manually and removed the Backup exec entries. I have also removed the Instances, but as soon as I reboot I get the services will not start.
The Last re install (uninstall remove registry entries, and Folders reboot and reinstall with update) I have error event id 58068,17204,17207
I hope someone has come across this before, :)

Hello there,
Please check and confirm which Backup Exec service fails to start.
Then go to the Event viewer and check the error that is generated when that service fails to start. This will give the idea about where the issue is.
Please paste the error from the event viewer here (there could be more than 1 events generated)
Thanks,

Hi,
I take it the SQL service has started up, as most of the BE services are dependent on this. Also, are you using a domain account with Domain Admin rights at a minimum, and if so, is this account not locked out?
Lastly...check and make sure that any AV running on the server isn't perhaps blocking the BE services, and if so, put in an exclusion for them.
Thanks!

Hi Craig
Yes the SQL service is started
I have been supporting BE a number of years but this one has got me stumped, It works fine after installation, before the restart but as soon as you restart, thats it get the errors that I mentioned see below. and all services are stopped
The server has both sql 2005 and 2008 with SAP Business 1 the OS is SBS 2008 sp2
I have even gone through the registry and removed backup exec and tried to start from scratch, still no joy .
The Backup Exec Device and Media Service could not start because the database recovery has failed. Refer to the database recovery log for details.

Hello there,
In the DATA folder C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Data there are some files with name BEDB_dat.BAK and BEDB_Log.BAK.
Rename the .MDF and .LDF files to .ORIG at the end.
Then rename BEDB_dat.BAK to BEDB_dat.mdf
and rename BEDB_Log.BAK. to BEDB_Log.ldf.
NOTE: This is the base database meaning performing the above steps will load a blank database and all your previous jobs and settting will not be available.
Also perform this step after stopping the SQL SERVER (BKUPEXEC) service.
Thanks,
