Hi Guys,
The following link specifies that Backup Exec 12.5 is supported with Windows server 2008 R2 by applying the hot fix 331998. However it doesnt mention whether this includes the 64 bit version.

Can someone shed some light on this.
Plus does this include support for exchange 2010 too.

As per my knowledge 2008 R2 only comes in 64 bit so it is supported for 64 bit as a remote server. You can't install BE 12.5 on ws 2008 r2 but can backup 2008 r2 by installing a remote agent as that is supported. Exchange 2010 support started from BE 2010, BE 12.5 doesn't support exchange 2010.

Thanks for the quick reply Sazz,
Yes I just realised R2 is 64bit only so that answers the first part of the question.
We have a backup server running windows server 2003 standard edition and will backing up a domain controller which has windows server 2008 R2.
In the future our exchange server 2007 will be updated to 2010 (this gets backup too) so can a backup exec agent be later install on that?

In order to backup Exchange 2010, the BE version must be BE 2010 & the BE media server must be either Win 2008 x64 or Win 2008 R2..
So when you upgrade your exchange server, BE & its OS will need to be upgraded as well..

Attached is the JPG screen shot of the error while installing the agent.

So you mean to say, BE 2010 will not support operating system 2003 to install as a media server.

This is CPS. Windows 2008 R2 support is not present in CPS 12.5.
Thanks
