Have Backup Exec 12 SP2 with Exchange agent, running on Windows 2008. Have Exchange 2007 SP1 about 21GB in mailbox store. I create a job to backup the Exchange store and public folder store. When thru the "Guide for Exchange Server Backup" wizard, selecting the option to "restore of individual items". My backup media is LTO tape.
The backup went thru successfully. Not a problem there. But the size it reported on the backup log is twice the size of my Exchange mailbox store. I have a 21GB store, and Backup Exec report that it backed up 47GB on the store.
Is it because I chose the option to "restore of individual items" and backing them up to tape? I also created another job to backup Exchange to disk. B2D. This time, I did not choose the "Restore of Individual items". The backup job ran successfully, and Backup Exec reported the backup size to be about the same size as the actual store database.
Any advice from folks who use Backup Exchange agent?
