Backup Exec 12 - tape ejects when attempting to run backup

Hi all, hope you can help me out here.

We have a customer using backup exec 12, on an HP ultrium 232 lto 1 external tape drive.
Up until about a week ago their backups were all running fine.
Now when user puts in tape to perform backup it spits it out from anytime from 30mins to 1 hour. Then when backup starts it will prompt for the tape to be inserted. When doing so it ejects straight away. Ihave replaced the tape unit under warranty to eliminate any hardware issue last night, but same thing happened again this morning.

Server is running SBS2003 SP2

Backup is a daily full backup and set to overwrite tape and eject after completion.

Hello,

Have you tried it on a new tape? you can try performing an erase operation on the tape to verify if its a retension settings issue or is it something else.

After the tape ejects, check what are the outstanding alerts before re-inserting the tape.
