Backup Exec 2010 / Exchange 2007 across domains (revisited)

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/backup-exec-2010-exchange-2007-across-domains

is a post/question regarding Backup Exec backing up an Exchange 2007 machine in a different (cross domain) scenario.

One of the posters cites an article: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/same-old-grt-glitches

Where has the article gone?

So... I re-ask the question:

What are the magical steps for deploying a Backup Exec media server into a cross-domain situation.

I have:

Domain 1: Production domain with NO Exchange organization. This domain also contains our new BE 2010 R3 media server.

Domain 2: Our corporate domain with Exchange 2007 SP3.

Backup Exec requires the installation of the Exchange Management tools on the media server in order to backup Exchange 2007.

I've searched around a bit and really thought I had FINALLY found some concrete answers on https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/backup-exec-2010-exchange-2007-across-domains but was disapointed when the article: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/same-old-grt-glitches came up as "page not found".

Questions:

1) Has anybody (sucessfully) deployed Backup Exec 2010 in a cross domain scenario backing up Exchange 2007 in the other domain?

2) HOW was this accomplished?

If I need to, I will open up a support ticket but I really didn't want to end up talking to someone in Argentina... again...

Is there a trust between the two domains ?

What have you done yourself, did you already install the equipment and getting an error message ?
If so, please post the exact error message.

Yes, there is a trust between the two domains.

We previously used Backup Execd 10D for our backups, however BE10 did not rely on the installation of the Exchange Management tools on the media server.

The equipment is installed, BE 2010 is installed (I am currently cataloging all of my tapes from the "old" system.

Installation of the Exchange Management tools on a target machine defaults to the current domain. I guess what I am wanting to know is how OTHER people have solved this problem of deploying a media server in "Domain A" but backing up Exchange 2007 in another trusted "Domain B". It looked like there was an article posted on this, however that article has been removed/deleted (otherwise unavailable).

No error to post because the Exchange Management tools did not install (I am intentionally using an account that does not have schema admin rights because I do not want my production schema modified on the domain that does not (and never will) host an Exchange server.

I read a couple of other articles on here that lead to an "implied solution". I say "implied" because the threads are terminated and the only "suggestion" is to move the media server to the same AD domain that Exchange lives in.

Here are the articles (I'm breaking these links intentionlly because it looks like the forum will mangle these anyway):

https://www-secure.symantec.com

/connect/forums/backup-exec-2010-exchange-2007-across-domains

This article terminates with a suggestion to move the media server to the Exchange domain.

https://www-secure.symantec.com

/connect/forums/cross-forest-backup-exchange-2007

This article just... terminates.

Called Symantec support.

The Exchange Management Tools does NOT need to be installed on the Media Server if you are running the Media Server on a 64bit OS. If you ARE running a 32 bit OS, THEN you must install the Exchange Management Tools.

In my case, I'm 64bit so this was not required to install. In my case I am ALSO running Exchange clustered, so I needed to use the VS (cluster name). Once I did that I was able to enumerate my Exchange Stores.
