Backup Exec 2010 Media Server on Citrix Xen 5.x

We plan to install a new Backup Exec Mediaserver (newest Version 2010) as a guest in a XenServer 5.6 environment. As system we use windows2008R2 Server.

We don't need acces to tape devices from this server, we only use backup-to-disk on a Exagrid system. We also have dedicated network interfaces on the xen hosts for this virtual machine.

Will symantec support this configuration?

As far as you are installing it on Win 2008 R2 it will work.

Symantec does not provide any further information regarding specific virtualization technologies. So best would be to call symantec support to ask this question. Be sure to demand a written statement in case they state it is supported.

BEWS 2010 ->W2K8 R2 in Citrix xen should not be any issues as far as I remember but still have a look on a the comatibility chart . , SCSI passthrough with tape drives or librarys may not be supported but as you are going to use Backup to disk, that can be ignored
