Backup Exec 2010 R2 with Exchange 2010 SP1 - GRT restore fails

Hi,

I have a Backup Exec 2010 R2 (Windows Server 2008 R2 x64) machine which has all patches installed.

Exchange 2010 Sp1 (Standard) also on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and full patched.

I can run backups without any problems. But there is no way to restore it.

Drive and media mount requested: 10.12.2010 09:51:31
V-79-57344-33029 - Error - Mount failed.
Invalid Physical Volume Library Media Identifier.

Media GUID: {96C5AFEB-42C8-4409-80BC-F8B6438BF947}
V-79-57344-33029 - Unable to acquire device for the specified pool and media
Invalid Physical Volume Library Media Identifier.

V-79-57344-33029 - Error - Mount failed.
Invalid Physical Volume Library Media Identifier.
V-79-57344-33029 - Unable to acquire device for the specified pool and media

Checked the V-79-57344-33029 and gave "Logon As a Batch Job" Rights.

Strange thing is that I still get errors in the debug log. But the user definitely has those rights.

LogonType set = [LOGON32_LOGON_BATCH][0x4]
LogonUser failed: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
[ndmp\ndmpsrvr]      - LogonuserError: 1326
[ndmp\ndmpsrvr]      - LogonUser failed for user: domain\user
[ndmp\ndmpcomm]      - ERROR: 69 Error: Windows LogonUser API failed.

Checked the used account (from debug log). Another strange thing is that the username given in the log file isn´t the account which I set as default.

I´ll try a new clean install on monday.

So, if someone have a solution for me please share...

Thanks for response, but i already tried those solutions with no luck.

After reinstalling the whole OS - the restore is working now.

But there is now another problem - cannot install update 140360 - another story.

I´m currently happy because the restore is working :D

Well that great news !! But  it seem to be some permission issue dont know how come reinstalling the oS fix the issue .

I agree it looks like permission issue...

tried to reinstall BExec but got a few curious errors so I decided to do a clean install.

If I push the agent at the initial BExec setup, all is working out of the box.

When the setup is done and I push the Agent to the Exchange there are always troubles.

Last time it couldn´t find the exchange database.

So, after applying the first update via LiveUpdate the ability to restore an exchange mailbox is gone.

Reinstalled -> patched everything -> No way to get a successful GRT restore.

Current Situation: ( restore "working" - when canceling the job )

Staging ( Job Rate falls from 1,000+ to ~2MB/Min ) - Drive changes status after a few seconds to idle - so it looks like it finished the staging process.

Seems like its in a endless loop after or while finishing staging.

After canceling the job it will restore my selected mails. No clue why it hangs there.

This only occurs when restoring exchange mailboxes.

Case closed (support found no misconfiguration or known error)

Developer will take a look on this.

Workaround:

Duplicating job to disc -> Restore from disc to exchange
