Good day,
We are using Backup Exec 2010 R2 (ver 13.0 rev 4164, 64 bit) (we have BE2012 but have not installed it yet for certain reasons).
We have the Exchange and SQL module and found out that there is a Sharepoint module as well. We currently use Sharepoint Services (not full blown Sharepoint) and would like to know if we purchased the Sharepoint module for Backup Exec if we will be able to do restores of files within Sharepoint portal attachments. For example: If we bought the Sharepoint module and did a full backup, would we be able to create a job restore and navigate through the Sharepoint backup file (since it is using an SQL database) and drill down at the file level and lets say, see within an accounting Sharepoint portal where all their attachments are and can restore just a single excel file all from within Backup Exec using the Sharepoint module?
I know this is very specific but the whole reason we would purchase the Sharepoint module is to do something like this.
Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi
Yes backup exec is able to perform GRT restore when backup is done of share point farm using GRT way
Please check few link below which provide some information on same
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH157059
http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO65637
http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO21789
In last would suggest to upgrade to BE2010 R3 version as that is final build of BE2010 which is more stable and you can do in place upgrade with same licenses and once done ensure youinstall sp2 and other updates using live update and then finally upgrade remote agent on remote servers
BE 2010 R3 Installer -http://trialware.norton.com/files/fc/Backup_Exec_2010_13.0.5204_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual_DVD.iso
(Same can be used for SBS)
Hope that helps
Thanks

If I am not mistaken, you can try out the Sharepoint option. Go to Tools ---> Install Options and Licences to enable the Sharepoint option. You would have 60-days to try it out. If you are satisfied that Sharepoint GRT is working for you, you can then buy an install a Sharepoint licence before the 60-days trial is up.
