Hello,

i try to Backup our ESX-Farm with BackupExec 2010. I like to use the dedublication-option but i can't find a place how i can do this. And i also like to do a incremental backup from vm's but on VMware-Option i can only use full backup not incremental. How i can do this.

regards

Hi Andreas,

You can only do FULL backups when using ESX 3.5. vSphere 4 allows for incremental backups.
For the dedupe option, I would suggest downloading the Backup Exec 2010 Admin Guide and reading up on it...

HI,

Dedupe, you need to have the Dedupe License.
and you need 1 GB RAM per 1TB deduped Storage.
You need to create a special Backup to Diskfolder.

In the job select the Dedupe Device. And your Deduplication is doen.

VMware: 3.5 odr 4.0 ?

Hi,

thanks for the fast postings :D

I have vSphere 4.4 servers. but i back up the guest over vCenter and not over the "real" vspahre 4.4 server. Can this be the issue?

And for dedub i'm reading the Admin Guide - thanks for the link.

Greetings

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

Have you come right here? If so, can you close this off please?

Thanks!
