Backup Exec 2010 with Data Domain OST

Hi,

in April 2010, Aiden Finley - Sr Product Manager stated

"Also note this is "Basic Dsk" support only.  Optimized Duplication support is currently being developed and tested by both Data Domain and Symantec and will be enabled in a future OST plugin and/or Backup Exec patch."

My question is - is the functionality to enable optimized duplication between DD OST devices in Backup Exec 2010 R2, or on the roadmap still?  If the functionality is there, how is optimized duplication configured over a standard duplication job within a policy? I have tested the duplication job and traffic appears to be routing through the media server rather than between DD boxes.

I have downloaded the latest version of the OST plugin from Data Domain and the DD OS is 4.8.1

Have you add OST devices for Dedupe operations via server name or IP adress as it should be Data Domain:  Using servername

 Quantum: Using servername_ip address

Optimized duplication is still on the roadmap via a hotfix.  I've heard that DataDomain has some code changes to make, before BE can support it.  (while this could be a case of just pointing fingers at each other...)
