Backup Exec 9.0 Restore Failed

Hello-  I have a server that was upgraded from Windows 2000 server to Windows 2003.  For my disaster recovery testing, I have to successfully restore this server on a new set of drives.  I have done this in the past with Windows 2000 w/o issue.  Recently, I did this with Windows 2003 Server and I did not have a good result.  This is the procedure I followed:

  • Installed Windows 2003 into the default install location
  • Setup same password for Administrator
  • installed BE 9.0 in a different location
  • cataloged the tape
  • restored (checking that this was an authoritative restore) files in winnt, program files, root of C, documents/settings and system state files
  • rebooted after the restore

After the reboot, I got a NTOSKernel error.  Did I do something wrong?

Sounds like it should have worked.  What build of v9.0?  W2K3 requires 4454

Just on GP I'd recommend the free upgrade to  v9.1

v9.1.4691.1 here

SP5 here

Driver  Pack here

Thanks.  9.1 is probably the version that backed it up, but that is not the version I restored with.  Would that matter?

I wouldn't hink so (V9.1 is basically a patch rollup, with no new features),   but you never know.

The upgrade is free, so a v9.0 serial will active v9.1 code
