Backup Exec 9.1 vs 10 over a firewall

I have a BE 9.1 media server setup in a test environment. When I try and run a backup over a firewall I get the following error:

The job failed with the following error: A communications failure has occurred between the Backup Exec job engine and the remote agent.

I have manually configured the dynamic port range options under network settings and created the appropriate NAT rules on my firewall. After setting the dynamic port range options I also tried restarting the BE services. I have also installed every single patch for BE 9.1 that was available on the update site.

When I try the same scenario with a demo copy of BE10 it works.

What do I need to do to BE 9.1 to make it work over a NAT firewall?

Hello there,

Are you using dynamic NAT? Backup Exec version 9.x does not support dynamic NAT.
http://support.veritas.com/docs/258334

The firewall must have a static Network Address Translation (NAT) configuration for the two-way communications to work between remote server and backup server.

Hope this helps you.
Thank You.
