Backup Exec - Backup Failed - Tandberg LTO1

Tweety2007

Hello Together

I've installed Backup Excec on a Windows Small Business Server and create a new backup job and some policys in the system.
But now I get a error code by the backup jop:

Errorcode: 0xe00084ec

"Storage device "Tandberg1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported:
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
This could be caused by either a dirty tape drive, bad media, or a SCSI problem.
V-79-57344-34028 - Error reading/writing data from/to the media."

I clean the TapeDrive every day and I use HP LTO1 media..
Sometimes it works.. (5%)

I used the new backup exec version with the sp2.

Can anybody help me?
What is better, to use the drivers from symantec for the Tandberg or the orginal drivers?

Thanks for your help and your Time

Jochen

Jochen,

Are there any hardware errors listed in the system log when that error is reported during the backup?

Generally the Symantec driver is the one you want to use.

You can also use our tracer program to get a SCSI trace of what is happening.  If the problem is with the hardware you can take the log to your vendor to have the drive looked at.
