Does this error occur during any particular backup? Are you backing up exchange database?
What is the error in job log?
In Backup Exec go to Tools>Options> Preferences and uncheck (if selected) the check box for "Display Progress Indicators"and click on the "OK" button to apply the change.
Reapply MDAC 2.8 from the Microsoft Website.
