Backup Exec Jobs at Queued

Donalb

Hello everyone.

So we are using BE 2012 (14.0 1798.1364), yesterday we noticed that our backups got stuck in the state queued, because we should import overwritable media.

There is another Job which is in the same state and always bring the "Import Library" Event.

Backup Job is configured as "Append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is available"

There you can see there are overwritable tapes.

The Backup worked kinda fine before, we're using an autoloader, fully working before.

Thanks in Advance.

...do you have the latest BE 2012 service pack and any new patches installed? If not, do so and try the backup again.

Thanks!

Hi, yes latest BE 2012 Service Pack is installed. (SP4)

Donald, try these settings:

1. Change to "Overwrite recyclable media contained in the targeted media set before overwriting scratch media".

2. Make sure that you don't have a prompt enabled before overwriting imported media...this would be under Media Management.

Are you using partitions? If so, then BE will not get a tape from another partition

Hi Craig, thanks for this i changed the options, but still the same issue.

Hi pkh, no i do not use partitions, the tapedrives always load the overwritable media but doesn't write on them.

I activated SGMon, then i saw something weird.

At the time the backup started would those media have been overwritable or is the picture only showing the status a few hours after things went wrong?

Hi Colin

The Tapes have a OPP of 4 Weeks, they are on a circuit of five tapesets which we weekly change, so all of them were overwritable when the inventory run.
