Backup Exec - Two Servers to One Agent?

Hey,

A quick one.

I'm migrating backup jobs from one Backup Exec 15 server to another, moving from (for arguments sake) a physical box with NAS Backup and tape replication to a virtual box with NAS Backup and NAS Replication.

I need to point the new box at the existing VCenter, where the existing box is already pointing to.

Is this going to cause me any issues? That is, having two Backup Exec servers pointing to the one Vcenter Agent?

And, one other question - is it at all possible to configure the existing tape drive on the old server as a destination on the new server, just as an interim measure?

Thanks

Yes. You can target a single vCenter server with two BE servers. However, I am not sure whether your backup jobs will interfere with each other, especially if they are incremental jobs No. A virtual BE server does not support tape drives unless they have iSCSI connection. NAS replication is like copying backup sets. This is a no-no. You should always duplicate your backup sets. See this document http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH176061

Thanks mate, I meant to say duplication in BE not NAS Replication.

Agree on interfering with each other - will see what happens.

Ta for the info!

Cheers
