Backup Exec and NAS

SWDornak
Not applicable

We just purchased a Buffalo Terastation 3 which runs an unknown Linux OS.  Our older version of Backup Exec sees the Terastation but will not let me access the subfolders for a backup.  I get an error that I cannot back up the Terastation with our version of Backup Exec.  Since it is old...version 7, I am thinking up upgrading to the latest Backup Exec.  Does anyone know if the latest will allow backups of this NAS.

Thanks!

Hello SWDornak,

Buffalo Terastation 3 is supported by BE 2010.

Check the Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) here : http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH137050

Check the compatibility on Page 10 (Disk Targets).

Also check that the compatible connectivity is CIFS.

Just an add-on.

CIFS connectivity method would require atleast 1 RAWS license to be present on the media server & then you can enable the user-share selection & backup the NAS box.
