Backup Fails after Install of Symantec Mail Security 4.5

Hi,

I am running Backup Exec 9.0 on Windows Small Business Server 2000. After installing Symantec Mail Security 4.5 my backups fail with an access denied error. I have been told that there is a patch for this but I cannot locate it. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

We recommend not to run antivirus software when backup job is running. This a known issue. Please note that more often antivirus programs cause problems during backup due to incoming and outgoing file scanning.

The antivirus software and the backup software try to access the file at the same time and this leads to error message.

Make the schedule such that the antivirus software scanning does not run when backups are scheduled.
