Backup Job Fails/Hangs after Restore Job

If I do a restore job during the day, and it happens to be from the same tape that I will be using that night for the backup job, The job will start, get to 646,610 bytes, and then sit there and hang until I cancel the job the next morning. I assume that if I just eject the tape and then put it back in after the restore job, that everything will work fine, but I haven't had a chance to test it yet because it's at a remote location. My media overwrite protection is set to none, and the only two times the backup has failed sinced implementing in Nov. 04 was on the two days I did test restores. Anyone else ever have this issue?
