Backup Job fails (Exchange 2010 Store, VMware)

Hello,

our backup task fails.
We are running Exchange 2010 in a virtual machine (VMware), OS = Windows Server 2008 R2.
Version of BackupExec is 2010, the remote agent is installed on the mentioned windows server.

The error log mentions a Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) error.
The service "Backup Exec VSS Provider fails to start.

Help is appreciated.

Is version of BE 2010 OR 2010 R3?

As if not R3 I'd start by upgrading ot latest version with latest updates and then re-install the remote agent.

it is Version Backup Exec 2010 R3
installed updates = service pack 2

Are you able to run a backup of Exchange outside of VMware?
