Hello,

Slow backup can occur depending upon the network load and the type of files
and the size.

In order to resolve the slow backup problem you may refer to the following
guidelines.

1. Please make sure that the antivirus protection is disabled during the
backup process.

2. Ensure that all the hardware devices are working properly. The firmware
on the device is updated to the latest.

3. Ensure that there are no third party applications running during the
backup process.

4. Test a backup job when the network activity is minimal and observe the
results
The backup performance depends on the following factors such as
A. Tape Drive used for backup (Tape drive or Autoloaders) and the media.
B. Hardware or software compression used.
C. The device drivers, firmware for the backup device. Update the firmware.
D. Local or remote network backup.
E. Job Scan Option selected during backup.
F. Please check Virtual memory settings.

I scheduled the backup to run at midnight where there are suppose to be no activities running.I am wondering whether this entry in event viewer in related to my problem "Error encountered when attempting to execute Media Label Library "BE". The DLL could not be loaded. Make sure the file exists and the path is correctly noted in the registry."

Using the same backup tape and backup jobs, sometimes this backup can be fast for few days and then the next day will be suddenly slow.

Hello,

First of all you need to decide whether you wish to use the device with
Removable storage or not.

If you wish to use device with Removable storage as well as with Backup
Exec then you need to install Microsoft or OEM drivers. If Veritas drivers
are installed then the device will be automatically disabled in the
Removable storage.

If you do not wish to use the device with Removable storage then we suggest
you to "Removable storage" service and change startup type to manual.

Download and install latest Veritas driver

Hi,
Upgrading to version 9.1 does not help also..
The backup rate is around 160 Mb/Min which I still consider as slow.

Hello,

As a test, take backup using Windows NT Backup Utility and then check what output it gives.

Regards
