Backup error involving sysvol

smiledr
Not applicable
I've been having considerable trouble with backups that involve a win2003 server that is the DC. All other machines in the selection backup and verify properly, but the DC continually has an error related to the DC's sysvol (see error below):

Backup - \\DELLSERVER2003\SYSVOL Logon server share Directory \\DELLSERVER2003\SYSVOL\hiddenlakesdental.com\DO_NOT_REMOVE_NtFrs_PreInstall_Directory was not found, or could not be accessed.
None of the files or subdirectories contained within will be backed up.

I have seen it suggested that the sysvol be deselected to avoid this problem, but am not sure why that would be a good idea.

Anyone have a solution?

Thanks!

Well, i definitely wouldnt deselect the entire sysvol directory, but you could try 2 things.

- exclude the 'DO_NOT_REMOVE_NtFrs_PreInstall_Directory' directory itself, as usually there is nothing in this directory.

- Change the permissions of the PreInstall driectory to allow Domain Admins (or your service account) to read it.

Hope this helps.
