Backup failing - seems to be when creating new file...

Having a problem with Backup Exec 10.0 Rev 5520

Have set up devices/media etc to a 2TB NAS device - have set the 'Maximum size for back-up-to-disk file' to 1GB.

When I run a job, it fails when the file size reaches 1GB - if I change the Max size value to 2GB then it fails when the file reaches that - looks like it's failing when trying to create the next file.

I get the following error:

Storage device "SNAP_WORK" reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported:
The specified network name is no longer available.
V-79-57344-34036 - An unknown error has occurred.

Can anyone suggest anyhting?

Many thanks

Hi Sean,

Have you deleted the B2D folder and tried to recreate it?

Have you allocated your space correctly?

Thanks!

See this article about Symantecs statement about compatibility:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH14963

Not sure if the tools exists in BE10, but in BE2010 there is a tool B2Dtest.exe to test the compatability of your NAS device for use with Backup2Disk.

Thanks for the responses

No, will try deleting and recreating this afternoon - thanks.

Have 2 Nexsan ATAboy units - one works perfectly (attached to a PC running FreeNAS) - the problem one is attached to a HP Proliant running Windows Server 2003 R2 - if redoing the B2D folder doesn't work I may try finding a spare PC and trying FreeNAS on that one too.

THanks!
