Backup fails although almost all data has been copied

Hi,

I'm facing strange problem with Backup Exec 11d. For last 3 weeks once a week backup fails although Byte Count and duration is almost the same as in successfull ones. Every time it's different error number and none of those number are known by google or symantec knowledge base.

Some of errors i received:

Final error: 0x20009 - 0x   20009 (131081)
Final error category: Other Errors

Final error: 0x2005d - 0x   2005d (131165)
Final error category: Other Errors

Error: 2000d - 0x   2000d (131085)
Error category: Other Errors

Backup sever runs on Windows Server 2003.

Is it possible to diagnose what can be the reason of such problem using informations above?
Please let me know what else may be helpful to solve it.

Thank you in advance,
marta

Thanks for help, unfortunately it didn't help.

I've installed Service Pack 4 and Service Pack 5 and some hotfixes, but the only benefit is that this time errors have some explanation.

Thanks to it i've discovered another possible reason of those failures - BE tried to back up files "with a lock", it's described here:
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/302394.htm

I've unchecked this option and now hold my thumbs for it to be the right solution.

Hi Marta,

Have you looked at updating to the latest Service Pack for Backup Exec, and then pushing the RAWS agent out to any remote servers?
If you're not running the latest version, it's worth looking into, as they address a number of errors through them.

Laters!

Hello again,

thanks for answer, but would you be so kind and explain me how to do this? I'm new Backup Exec user, so more detailed instruction would be really helpful.

OK cool...here goes:

1. Download the latest service pack for Backup Exec 11D here:

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/317521.htm - x64

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/317520.htm - x32

2. Once downloaded, install the service pack.
3. Once installed, open up Backup Exec, and go to Job Setup. You will see a selection list. Open it, and go to the section containing your servers with data selections etc.
4. Once you find it, right-click a server, and choose Install Remote Agent/Advanced Open File Option... From there you can follow the prompts.
It's going to show that there are updates available which you can install.

Try the backups again, and post the results here...

It appears that installation of Service Pack 5 and changing BE properties to not to back up files "with a lock" was the right solution.

Thanks for your help!
