Hi,

When trying to backup Exchange 2007 SP1 with Update Rollup 7, the job fails with the following errors:

System information:
* Windows 2008 Small Business Server Standard - All windows updates installed up to the 28th of April 2009
* Exchange 2007 SP1 with Update Rollup 7
* 50 Gb free on drive where exchange db's are located. Exchange DB itself is 1,6Gb.
* Exchange management tools are installed
* the latest MAPI CDO 1.2.1 is installed
* Backup Exec 12.5 for SBS with SP1 and latest hotfixes
* the Backup Service account has all the rights as needed
* vss writers are all ok
* exchange db is consistent (using eseutil)
* store is mounted before and during the backup operation

What i've tried (and did not fix it)
* reinstalled backup exec
* recreated backup job
* restarted "Microsoft Exchange MTA stacks" and "Microsoft Exchange Information Store".
* restarted the server

The following also did not provide any solution

I have no idea how to fix this issue and currently i am unable to make an online backup of the exchange store. The flatfile backup does work, of course I have to stop the exchange information store to achieve this.

V-79-57344-34110  = trying to backup Exchange 2007 stores with GRT (granular technology) backup exec does not play nice with NAS devices and the suggestion is to turn off GRT when performing backup to disk for Exchange 2007 on a NAS device.

Hi Chicojrman,

I appreciate the effort, but in my post I already mentioned that http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/269274.htm does NOT provide a solution. Futhermore there is no NAS device attached. It is a single server environment.

fyi: Turning off GRT or every option for exchange does not fix it.

I always use the "phone" option as last resort, because I do not have any good experiences with phoning support. Before support eventually want to take it seriously enough and support admits it might possibly be a problem in the software, at least a week of calling/mailing with Symantec and/or Microsoft will have passed by. This is my experience with calling into support so far...
