Hello everyone, I just became a member. I thought I'd drop my opinion and see what route some have taken in instituting alternatives to tape media as backup. I've just taken on a client with a network/lan as follows (three W2k servers, W2003 Exchange, 50+ WXP clients, 1 Vista client). Currently, they use Veritas Backup Exec 9.0 with tapes. They do a tape backup each night (M-F), and keep two weeks worth of tapes. I'm considering only one week of daily backups (instead of two), as well as keeping the last backup from the prior month, while switching to HDs as a backup media, since they are against online backups. Whether I'd have to upgrade their Veritas software is another issue I'll have to look in to as well.
For example....
1. The backup made on June 29, 2007 (the last Friday for the month of June) would be kept and overwritten on the last Friday for the month of July.
2. Daily backups for one week.
Any comments, concerns, suggestions would be appreciated.
