Backup to Disk not overwriting files

I have a directory that I set up to have a retention period of 2 weeks. However, when the fiile passes the retention period, backup exec is not overwriting this file, it is always creating a new one.
Am I missing a setting someplace? Can I tell the system to not create new files, to use the existing ones?

Please check the media set properties which you have configured

Also check the media overwrite protection levels.
