Backup to Disk

I have a few questions about backing up to disk. I tried it for the first time yesterday and am not sure of what happenned.  I designated a folder to hold the data, the output that I have looks like the following.
 
1. IMG1 1:11 PM
2. IMG2 1:06 AM
3. BKF

I lost my Internet connection before I could finish my question....

2. IMG2 (20th) 1:06 AM
3. BKF  (20th) 1:01 AM
 
How would I look at the contents to ensure that my full backup actually worked? Also, how would I restore in case of a recovery situation? Did this option take a snapshot of my server and data or does it act like a backup to tape which I can selectivley restore files?  Please help me to understand...

Open the console and go to the Restore Selections pane
 
This will show you what Backup Exec thinks it has backed up
