BackupExec 11D Dead slow

Hello

I have upgraded BackupExec 11D and using  Granular Restore Technology to backup just the Information Store
which I can use it for restoring brick level mailboxes.

But If I choose, GRT the back is deeeeeeeeead slow. Taking whole.

Is it still using MAPI technology?

Is there anyway to fix this?

Are you backing up to disk or to tape?  It does still use MAPI, but it is not at all like MAPI was used in the legacy method of mailbox backups.  The backup should be about the same speed as the information store backup always was.  If there are any MAPI related issues on the Exchange server, it could cause these type of problems.

Hello Steve

I am backing up directly to disk.

Anyway, Your answer is good . But I need a fix ( not answer )

And I can prove you our Exchange server does not have any MAPI issue.

Please let me know if I a missing anything in BE setup.

And let me know if you have any fix for that.

Kind regards

What version of Exchange is this?  What speed can you backup flat files on the exchange server?  What speed does the information store run at?

Alex, check out this link:

It gives a lot of tips for dealing with slow backup to disk performance. We're using GRT and backing up our IS to disk at about 700 MB/s. Running Exchange Server 2003 SP2, not all hotfixes yet though. In the link above you'll find a post of me which fixes in BackupExec I've implemented.

Good luck!
