Hi,
I have been using 3600 Appliance for a while to back up to disk, but I have just moved my tape backups to this also and Im currenlty testing.
I have BackupExec 2015 installed.
Previoulsy i was using Netbackup for tape backups. This would always write a catalog tape after the backups had finished.
My question is what is the best practice for BackupExec.
I see a "DisasterRecoveryBackup" runs everyday. Are the catalogs stored in there? and should I back this up to tape also..
Or in a disaster scanerio is it just a case of right clicking the tapes and running "catalog"
Any advice and tips would be very welcome.
Thanks

The catalogs are stored in a directory named "Catalogs" under \Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\
If the catalogs are not truncated and still on disk, then no need to right-click the tape and choose Catalog. Else one has to.

The catalog information is also stored on tape but only fo the information on that tape. In the event of a disater it can be quicker to have a copy of the catalogs folder available as otherwise you would have to catalog every tape manually (which might be difficult if you send tapes offsite)
