BackupExec corrupting pst files

nugget

I seem to have a randomly recurring problem with BackupExec corrupting users Outlook archive files (pst files). The user has access to the pst file as normal and then one day after a backup they can't open the archive file (Outlook reports that it is corrupt). I then restore a copy of the archive from before the corruption time and it can go 2 days or 2 weeks before it happens again.

As mentioned it is random and recurring. Random as to when it happens and recurring as to the file type.

For example, one user could not open her archive yesterday due to corruption. I tried restoring from the last full backup and it was also corrupt. I was able to find another copy of the archive file on another pc that she had used 3 weeks earlier and then everything was okay. The strange thing was that the files were exactly the same size (to the byte).

This leads me to believe that BackupExec is somehow corrupting the files during the backup process.

Has anyone else had something similar?

We are seeing something similar on a small scale.
