Backupexec does not use the all size of the tape

Hi dears,

My backup is done now on 2 tapes but I have data which can feet on one tape.
Before my backup was done succesfully using the all tape size(200GB). Also it was going up to 210GB.
But for the moment Backupexec request for another tape when it has backed up about 170GB of data.
So for 200GB of data I must use 2 tapes.

Can you help me to fix this?

Best regards.
Toska

We have recently started experiencing the exact same problem.

Backing up 360GB to a 400GB (uncompressed size) LTO tape.  For months worked fine (as expected) but then the last few weeks it has been stopping at about 350GB and asking for a second tape.

What we have found is that if we long erase the tapes manually before the backup, it performs the backup without this problem.  It is as if BE is not able to overwrite the whole tape for some reason.  And yes, it is set to in the options, and worked for months just fine.

Thank you Keith,

I used a new tape but the result was the same.
I will test to erase and make a new backup.

Best regards.

Can anyone suggest a solution or cause for this please?  An official response would be nice.

We had our first failure after a Long Erase over the weekend so that is clearly not the solution.

Why would BE request a second tape after only backing up 350GB to a 400GB tape?  What could cause this?

Thank you
