Backups and catalogs contain no files, only directories.

Backup Exec 2010 R2 SP1

BE appears to be running well, existing backups are running successfully and backing up many GB each time.

I've tried to create a backup job to backup a folder containing about 30GB.

The job stops after about 20 seconds with no errors.  The job summary (below) shows no files, and only 3 directories. There should be 48,000 files!

Also, if I try to restore, the catalogs show only empty directories, makig restoring difficult.

Help!  Without BE producing any error messages, I don't know where to start.

------------

Job summary:-

Byte count          : 936 bytes      (should be 30GB)

Job rate            : 0.00 MB/Min (Byte count of all backup sets divided by Elapsed time for all backup sets)

Files               : 0      (should be 48,000)

Directories         : 3    (should be 6,000)

Skipped files       : 0

Corrupt files       : 0

Files in use        : 0

AmolZeroCool,

Thank you.  Thank you.  You are exactly right.

The folders are DFS replicated.  I've changed the selection list to select them through shadow copy components and the backup is now running properly.

I'd never noticed Shadow Copy Components before.  My existing backup jobs cover DFS shares and were running OK.  I think the old backup jobs may have been created when the shares were normal shares.
