IBM AIX and Oracle Solaris are well known for powerful and extremely stable operating environments. These platforms are well-suited for business-critical applications that cannot tolerate outages. They are mainly used to address large enterprise-level application needs, where stability and scalability are of paramount importance.
Veritas Backup Exec had previously offered support for AIX and Solaris, which reached End Of Support a few years back. But due to recent popular demand from our customers, agents for AIX and Solaris were reintroduced with the BE 20.6 release. And now, with Backup Exec 21.1 release, we have enhanced the agent for both these platforms.
The enhanced agents for AIX and Solaris now operate on par with the agent for Linux in terms of data compression, software encryption for data in transit and at rest, and secure communications. The agents support operating system file-level backups and restores of AIX and Solaris workloads, allowing enterprises to restore lost or corrupt data in a short time by restoring to the same or redirected location. The support is provided for traditional backup/restore of user files.

The agent for AIX and Solaris platforms is now available with the Linux Agent and uses a common installable package for all platforms. The common installable is available as part of the Backup Exec DVD media.
