One More Bad Media issue.

I am trying to restore files from a tape.
When I do Inventory for the tape, it says "bad Media" and I am not able to do the catalog....
I am able to restore data from other tapes just fine....
I am using Veritas backup exec 9.o version....
Can anybody please help, and let me know the solution?

Thanks,
Pramod

If the header is bad. On-track can recover your tape. It will cost $1000s. They are very good at it.

Try cleaning the tape drive. Try a different tape drive if you can. Unfortunantly, there may not be a usable solution. If you're using a cartridge media, there is really no specification for cleaning the tape.

For a very long shot, you might try recovering from the tape using Microsoft's backup utility. You might be able to import the tape.

Hi,

This could be an issue with the media, as you are able to read data from other tapes. One suggestion would be to reading the tapes using Windows NTBackup Utility.
