Best Practices for MS Exchange Backup

Hi,

I have recently installed backup exec 10d for windows servers with AOFO and Exchange agent

I am trying to locate information regards best practices for backing up the Exchange e.g. if i backup the information store, public folders and mailboxes, is it also a good idea to backup the hard disk location\folder of the databases\logs or does the above selections suffice?

My own personal view is that you should backup everything once. i.e. on an exchange server you should back up:
The hard drives (both system and exchange data drives)
The system state
The Exchange Information Store

This gives you enough data to restore the entire Exchange server if need be.
Don't worry about backing up the exchange data twice - the actual data files will be skipped during the filesystem backup.
And you don't need to use AOFO for any of it.

Hello,

It is not recommended to use AOFO with any of the Database backup. Kindly refer the following Document for the same...
