I need to understand something.

I have a windows sbs 2003 server that I have installed Backup Exec 11d, CPS 11d and Recovery server.  I wanted to configure CPS but get a message about having two servers.  So in a office with 1 sbs server you can never run CPS?  Is that correct?

That is correct Steve,
CPS is for file replication from one server to another server.
You can not replicate data to the same server.

How can I then protect user files when they save them?  Meaning in CPS when a user saves a document it gets replicated to the backup area.  Is that possible without CPS?

Hey Steve,

I would recommend running incremental jobs through out the day with Backup Exec.

That is the only thing I can think of that would give you more file protection on changed files

It will not be like CPS when they save a file or make a change but it will give you more restore options if they need a previous version of the file restored.

Could I run CPS in a virtual session on the same sbs server?  I have a windows 2003 r2 installed as a terminal server.  This may at least be an option.

Steve,

That would not be supported.

It may work and it would require a lot of resources.

If you set it up that way and something went wrong Tech Support would not be able to assist you.
