Can old data be retrieved from tape after an over-write job starts? (only 1 GB overwritten)

I have a client with a tape backup that had a tape with some critical backups in it. He inserted a tape (the only tape) with data needed to restore some corrupt files. He neglected to pause any jobs in the queue, and when he inserted the tape, Backup Exec SBS 12.5 began an overwrite (not append) to the cartridge. It only overwrote 1.5 GB or so of the total space. My question is there any way to retrieve the data still on the remainder of the tape of the previous backup at all??

ANY assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.

There is nothing that can be done using Backup Exec here, data is lost for Backup Exec. Although, you may want to check some solutions like:

Please mark it a solution, if this is useful.

You cannot restroe any data from the tape as when the overwrite job starts it erases the header of the tape so even if the data is present it cannot be restroed from the tape . You can chek with your hardware vendore if they have any utility throug which you can try to retrive some infromation
